Chris' Story:

I intended to write "Chris' Story" but soon realized I couldn't fully grasp what was in his mind, much like other survivors.  Instead, I share my story with you.

I met my husband, Christofer Criswell and fell deeply in love with his sense of adventure, quick humor, zest for life and dedication to his children.  His adult daughter has Down Syndrome and his visitation with her was faithful until his passing.  His love for her was fierce and I had never encountered a more patient man.

When we merged our families, Chris became an instant grandpa to Braylon and Brienne.  He delighted in creating adventures for them - from crafting a baseball pitching machine from a leaf blower, PVC pipe and duct tape to riding the kids on his 4-wheeler - complete with boat seats strapped securely to the back.  Every moment with Papa Chris was an adventure, thanks to his boundless creativity.

Boating was Chris' passion.  He navigated his 34' Silverton like a pro.  His retirement plan included more time for perch fishing on Lake Erie.

Chris' co-workers refered to him as "MacGyver" and voted him "The man with whom they would most want to be stranded on a deserted island."  Chris could and did fix anything - except, sadly, himself.

My love decided to end his time on this earth on December 25, 2021.  Chris was deeply loved and respected by many, and his presence on this planet is profoundly missed.

During years of therapy, medication and unbelievable support from my tribe the "what ifs" were all-consuming.  What if this, what if that...  "What if" Chris and others had hope?  Hope is what we survivors yearn and pray for.  Hope is what I wish my husband had...

May my husband's memory and legacy continue through this non-profit, dedicated to assisting survivors in their times of need and hope.

For you, my love.
